Buxton Roman Festival - Saturday, 4th April 2026.

 Buxton Roman Festival,

Saturday 4th April 2026.

Thanks to the Buxton Cresent Heritage Trust for inviting us back for another  Buxton Roman Festival!

Last year, we had just under 700 people visit the festival, that's a great turnout, especially on a Saturday. We were talking to visitors continuously all day.

The Roman name for Buxton was Aquae Arnemetiae ('Waters of the goddess Arnemetia') and the town was one of the two thermal baths in Roman Britannia along with Aquae Sulis (Bath).

Roman Buxton had several of Bath houses, today their sites lie under the Crescent areaof the town. There was a temple of the goddess Arnemetiae which was built in the Classical style with a rectangular podium supporting a shrine room with portico of columns to the front.

The event is being held at the Assembly Room and Pump Room in Buxton from 10:00am to 4:00pm. It is a free event but donations for the Buxton Cresent Heritage Trust are welcome.
